Misa's notebook[]

One of the biggest head scratchers for me is how Misa regains her memories in LNW after touching the notebook Shien sends her. In LCtW, we see L clearly burning both Light and Misa's notebooks in the beginning of the film. Shien however constantly reiterates over and over again how the notebook he sent her was hers. I thought this could have been a way to mislead her but the more I think about it, I wonder is the notebook that was sent to her really was the same one she was using in the previous films?

My guess is that Ryuk switched Misa's notebook with a fake before L burned it but this is purely conjecture.

And is the notebook Hikari uses the same notebook Shien sends Misa? The film doesn't make that clear because Ryuk continues to follow Shien in the film despite Ryuk being attached to Misa's notebook. So shouldn't Ryuk be following Misa instead? Ryuk can't be attached to multiple notebooks because only Arma dies in the film so that means he should only be following one person.

This is how I've mapped out the possible timeline of ownership of Misa's notebook in the films, starting from the first film when it was originally passed to Light:

Ryuk -> Light -> Misa -> Hikari -> Mikami -> Mishima -> Shien -> back to Misa -> back to Shien

So my final question is, does the novel confirm or deny that the notebook Misa uses is from the first two films? Or does it leave it ambigious, making it unclear how Misa regained her memories?Mikami Teru (talk) 22:54, November 23, 2017 (UTC)

My take on it is that we just don't know what happens to the Death Notes when they burn. For all we know, they rematerialize back in the Shinigami Realm, so it could be the same notebook from the first two films. Interesting question about the novelization. I'm not feeling up to looking into it at the moment, but maybe another time, or maybe someone else will. — KylaraE (talk) 23:07, November 23, 2017 (UTC)

Where did you find the info?[]

What's the source? I can't find it anywhere. Best I could find is a German copy on Amazon. If anyone knows where to find it, I would greatly appreciate it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by UncleLad (talkcontribs)
