The official English volumes of the manga, as well as Death Note: How to Read 13, have it spelt as Rester. The Japanese language doesn't have a sound for the letter 'L', so names that use an 'L' are spoken as if they have an 'R' instead (for example, L is called Eru, and if I recall correctly, Mello is Mero). I think most fan translations tend to change letter R's to L's when translating names for non-Japanese characters, assumming that it would have an L when spoken in English. However, Rester just happens to have an R at the beginning of his name, not an L. It's an understandable mistake, though. MarleneZ.Talk
