This is a list of events that took place in the Death Note manga in chronological order. This information has been checked using the databook, Death Note 13: How to Read.

NOTES:

• This is a work in progress.
• This timeline follows the events canon to the manga and not the anime or films.
  • Differences between anime and manga versions are not described here. These are the events as they take place in the manga.
  • This timeline also includes the events of the Death Note novel, Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases.

July 31, 2002	Believe Bridesmaid is murdered by Beyond Birthday and later found dead.
August 4, 2002	Quarter Queen is murdered by Beyond Birthday and found dead.
August 13, 2002	Backyard Bottomslash is murdered by Beyond Birthday and found dead.
August 14, 2002	L contacts Naomi Misora for the first time.
August 22, 2002	Beyond Birthday makes a suicide attempt in a way to make it appear he himself was murdered as a final victim. Naomi Misora learns Beyond's plan and prevents his death. Misora arrests Beyond, thus concluding the LABB Murders.
September 1, 2002	L takes up learning capoeira as recommended by Naomi Misora.

December 27, 2003 Yonegoro Nusumi dies, witnessed by Raye Penber who is threatened by Light Yagami. All twelve FBI agents, including Raye Penber, are killed by Penber after Light Yagami tricks him into writing their names on a page of the Death Note.		009 Slots

When nobody dies, L concludes that neither Misa nor Light are Kira and can be released, though they are to remain under surveillance. October 13, 2004	Arayoshi Hatori is killed by the power of the Yotsuba Kira's Death Note.
October 15, 2004 Yotsuba Kira meeting is held to discuss Coil's report on L. The meeting is discreetly observed by the Kira Task Force thanks to bugs and cameras placed in the meeting room. Posing as L, Light Yagami contacts Yotsuba employee Reiji Namikawa and offers immunity from prosecution if he blocks the killing of Yotsuba's competitors. Impressed, L suggests that Light Yagami might succeed him, but they again come to blows when Light realizes that he is still under suspicion of being Kira. The Kira Task Force splits over tactics. October 24, 2004 Misa Amane auditions for Yotsuba's advertising campaign, during which she is quizzed over the rumors that she was the Second Kira. October 25, 2004 Misa Amane goes for a drive with Kyosuke Higuchi and tells him she is the Second Kira. At the discrete request of Misa Amane, Rem kills Ginzo Kaneboshi with the Death Note, confirming to Kyosuke Higuchi that Misa is the Second Kira. Kyosuke Higuchi tells Misa Amane that he is the Yotsuba Kira. She discreetly records his confession and passes it on to the Kira Task Force. October 28, 2004 The plan to arrest Kyosuke Higuchi begins at Sakura TV. Traffic cop Ito Shiroba is killed by the power of the Yotsuba Kira's Death Note. Kyosuke Higuchi is arrested and his Death Note seized. His captors touch the Death Note and see the Shinigami Rem. By touching the Death Note, Light Yagami recovers his memories of being the original Kira.
