Kira's Spokesperson (Kira no kōhō tantō, キラの広報担当) refers to Kira's appointed messenger chosen to spread Kira's "ideals and teachings", whether it be through the media, news, or public influence.
History[]

Light decides to choose a spokesperson.
Shortly after Soichiro Yagami's death, Near begins making moves towards his investigation against Kira. As pressure mounts with Light Yagami's battle with both Near and Mello, Light begins considering the possibility of appointing a spokesperson to not only support him in spreading his ideals, but to also rally public support against his rivals.
Hitoshi Demegawa[]
Hitoshi Demegawa is Light's first choice for a spokesperson, primarily due to his history with Sakura TV earlier in the Kira investigation, as well as Demegawa's history as a Kira supporter since Kira first appeared. Demegawa, on Light's instructions, leads a riot of Kira supporters in New York seeking to take down the SPK. However, Near drops money on the Kira supporters, distracting them and allowing him and the SPK to escape. This incident along with Demegawa's later attempts to use Kira's name for his own profit lead to him being killed by Teru Mikami.
Kiyomi Takada[]
Recognizing the continued need for a spokesperson even after Demegawa's death, Mikami appoints NHN news anchor Kiyomi Takada to serve as Kira's new spokesperson, confirming this to NHN by sending them a message in which he predicted the times of death for two criminals. Takada proved to be a more ideal spokesperson for Light and Mikami as she was able to easily meet with Light due to their previous relationship where he would pass messages to her. She publicly urged countries to start supporting Kira more actively and suggested that Kira's ideals be thought in schools. However, after she is kidnapped by Mello, Light kills Takada to cover his tracks.
Throughout the remaining few days of his reign as Kira, Light is left without a spokesperson. However, different news stations such as Sakura TV started jockeying for the spokesperson position as soon as news of Takada's death was made public.
