A Korean-language production of Death Note: The Musical (뮤지컬 데스노트) ran from June 20 to August 9, 2015 in South Korea at the Seongnam Arts Center Opera House in Seongnam, South Korea. It was the first Korean-language production of the musical, and the second overall production of the musical after the 2015 Japanese production.

The Korean version was translated from the Japanese version rather than from the original English version, and includes the lyric changes to songs made in the Japanese translation. The Korean production was directed by Tamiya Kuriyama, who also directed the 2015 Japanese production, and produced by CJES.

Showcase[]

Ahead of the production, a Showcase was performed. The Showcase was a concert with cast members performing songs from Death Note: The Musical before an audience.

Studio recordings and music videos[]

The 2015 Korean production had studio recordings for some of the songs, which were released as music videos. Each video featured video of the live recording, and the castmember in character in the setting used for the photoshoot. Three were released:

A fourth music video was released to the English-language version of the song Where is the Justice performed by Jeremy Jordan (Light). The music video depicted scenes from the photoshoot. The video was officially uploaded to YouTube, but later taken down.

Death Note: The Musical won Best Musical of the year at the 2016 eDaily Culture Awards. Kim Junsu, who portrayed L, accepted the award on behalf of the team.[2][3][4]

Death Note: The Musical also won four awards at the 2015 Stagetalk Audience Choice Awards.[5]
