Death Note: Jinrou (DEATH NOTE人狼; trans. Death Note: Werewolf) is a Death Note board game. It is a "werewolf" (jinrou) type game, also known as a mafia game, in which enemy players are hidden amongst a group. (i.e. Jinrou is a genre; there are no werewolves in the game.)

Death Note: Jinrou was developed and first released by Chocolate in 2019. In August 2024, Shueisha Games announced that it was remaking the game, and it will be re-released in winter 2024.[1][2]

Gameplay[]

Players are members of the Kira Investigation Team. The team is made up of L and his friends, and also Kira and his friends who want to kill L. The game is divided into teams using identity cards. The game alternates between "investigation time" where players gather information using investigation cards, and "judgment time" where Kira kills with his notebook. The game continues until either Kira's team wins by killing L, or L's team wins by uncovering Kira.

The remake game will include:[3]

  • 7 Identity Cards
  • 28 Investigation Cards
  • 1 Death Note Board
  • 4 Game Summaries
  • 1 End Card
  • 2 Rulebooks
  • 1 Pen

Shueisha's 2024 re-release is making the following changes to the game:[3]

  • The box will be the same size as regular manga, so that it can be lined up neatly in a bookshelf with the manga volumes.
  • The cards have been updated.
  • The rules have been expanded.
  • The maximum number of players has been expanded to 7.
